RTYC NY&NJ Statement on Executions of Tibetans inside occupied Tibet over 2008 protest RTYC NY&NJ strongly condemn the Chinese government's decision to execute four Tibetans under the government's accusations of "violent" activity during 2008's protest inside occupied Tibet.

Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) released information regarding four executions that took place on October 20th 2009 ordered by the Chinese Government's municipality court in Lhasa. The executions were not reported in any of the Chinese state-run media. Therefore it is imperative that we, as freedom observing people, appeal to the world's governing bodies to adamantly condemn such endangering behavior while making the following points on the executions

1. The executions of Lobsang Gyaltsen, aged 27, born in Lhasa; Loyak, aged 25, of Tashi Khang, Shol Township, Lhasa and Penkyi, aged 21, born in Sakya County and an unidentified Tibetan received no reported due process of law. This is not an uncommon practice as random political imprisonments and unwarranted torture are on the highest prevalence among innocent Tibetans seen as “national threats”.

2. It is in the greatest depths of our fear and realization that if these unconscionable executions are not addressed by the world’s governing leaders the executions of a mass number of Tibetans will be prompt. It is important to emphasize the egregious sentencing received by Tibetan protestors who simply raised their voice a year ago; those individuals who exercised their fundamental human right. It is simply not comprehendible.
3. The Chinese Government has begun to initiate a series of sentencing. In addition to reported executions, life sentences have been placed on those who been accused by the government for their unsubstantiated role in 2008’s unrest. Such harsh case is with Penkyi, aged 23, of Thantoe village, Margkyang township in Nyemo County and Penkyi, a 20-year old of Norbu village, Dogra Township in Sakya County, received a suspended death sentence. As their fate hangs in our response to their sentencing, we urgently appeal to the governing bodies and people of consciousness to pressure the Chinese government into reevaluating their ordered sentence with a fair trial.
4. The executions and life sentencing are the ultimate indicators of human rights violation. As such, the United Nations and the United States are appealed foremost to aid the endangered Tibetans. The poor response during 2008’s crackdown on Tibetans led to the increased number of casualties against the merciless Chinese military who open fired onto Tibetan crowds. We do not wish to just stand by and see another episode. We urge president Obama to cease his visits to Beijing before condemning China’s brutal regime. We urge Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon to investigate the deteriorating human rights conditions and violations. Human rights concern has become an issue for the past 60 years with the Chinese Government’s interaction with Tibetans inside Chinese-occupied Tibet.
