Tenzin Choephel
Joint Secretary RTYCNY&NJ
Tashi Delek!
My name is Tenzing Choephel Andrugsurba and I am your newly elected joint secretary! Before
assuming this position I reflected on whether I would be the best candidate and since the Tibetan
Community lacks some volunteerism ethos where it would not be necessary for an inexperienced student,
like myself, to take the enormous responsibility because the community would actively participate in
all civic roles, I gladly took a step forward and accepted the nomination! Now, I would like to
express my deepest sympathy for not fluently knowing my native language, I understand it yet have
trouble speaking it and since language is the mode of a distinct culture I am afraid my spoken cultural
language has been lost to me. Yet, I am fully confident that my board members will assist me and in
two years I will be speaking Tibetan before I know it :) I came to America when I was 5 years old and
when my future children turn 5, they will be growing up in a free Tibet, Bhoe Rangzen!!!
My qualifications are as follows:
1. Full Time College Student with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy
2. Board member of USTC (US Tibet Committee)
3. worked with SFT several times on events such as "Rap for Tibet"
4. Tibetan rapper with the rap moniker "MC Rebel"
5. founding member of the Political rap group, the "Yeti Crew"
6. Member of the drama group, the "Nomads"
7. currently playing the male lead character in a Tibetan play entitled, "Turbulent Tibet"
