Oct 3, 2010

As armed Nepal police seized the Tibetan election ballot boxes at 4:30pm local time yesterday in Nepal, Tibetans all over the world are raged by this blatant and disruptive act.

Nepal, which is home to some 20,000 Tibetans has accommodated Tibetan exiles for decades, but has come under increasing pressure from China in various activities.

Under China’s influence and lack of stable government in the nation, Human rights groups say Tibetans refugee in the Nepal are always at risk of arrested and repatriation.

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of New York and New Jersey calls on United Nations and government of Nepal to look into matter immediately and take serious actions to release the sized ballots. We also appeal to the people of world to speak up against this Violation of HUMAN RIGHTS and their attempt to subvert the democratic process for a minority group of Tibetan in Nepal.
